The Blackbird is one of Sweden's most cherished songbirds — individual males have their own "melodies" that are never repeated exactly.
Song: deep, fluting, mellow phrases with short pauses. Delivered from a high vantage point at dawn and dusk. The song season runs March–July, peaking in April–May.
Alarm call: a sharp "tix-tix-tix" — heard when a bird of prey or cat appears. It intensifies to "tri-tri-tri" when danger is acute. Other birds respond to the alarm.
Flight call: a soft, drawn-out "seeeh" — hard to pinpoint.
Recordings can be found on xeno-canto and on the taxon page of Artportalen (the Swedish species observation system).
