Eurasian Blackcap: Nest & eggs
The Blackcap is an open nester that builds its nest hidden in dense scrub, not in cavities.
- Nest site: low in a dense bush or thicket, well hidden among leaves and branches in deciduous woodland, parks and gardens.
- Nest: a small, rather loose cup-shaped nest that the pair builds together.
- Breeding: both parents take part in incubation and feeding, and in southern Sweden the pair can manage a second brood in a favourable season.
The hidden position in the shrub layer protects the nest of this otherwise rather shy warbler.
