Eurasian Teal: Diet

  • Seeds and plant matter: the Teal filters with its bill in shallow water and takes small green aquatic plants, cereal seeds and sedge seeds.
  • Aquatic invertebrates: insect larvae, crustaceans and molluscs — an important source of protein during the breeding season.
  • Algae and filamentous green plants: taken opportunistically on shallow bottoms.
