Eurasian Bullfinch: Breeding

The Eurasian Bullfinch breeds discreetly and out of sight, and the pair stays together year-round — an unusual trait among our small birds.

Breeding season: May–July, 1–2 broods per season. - Nest: a platform in a spruce bush or hedge 1–3 m up. Twigs and lichens. - Eggs: 4–5, blue-green with violet spots. Incubated 12–14 days by the female. - Young: fed on seeds stored in the throat pouch. Fledge after 16–17 days.
