Eurasian Magpie: Migration

The Eurasian Magpie is one of Sweden's most sedentary birds.

  • No migration: it essentially never leaves its patch, spending its whole life within a few square kilometres.
  • Site-faithful: an established pair holds the same territory year after year.
  • Dispersal: only young birds move short distances to find territories of their own.
