The Osprey builds a large stick nest with a clear view over the water and returns to the same site year after year.
Nest site: the nest is preferably placed in the top of a thick, free-standing pine near a fish-rich lake or on an artificial nest platform erected for the species.
Reuse: the same nest is added to over many years and can eventually become very bulky.
Eggs and young: the female usually lays 2–3 eggs, which are incubated for 37–41 days, and the young fledge after around eight weeks.
Artificial nest platforms have been an important measure behind the species' strong population in Sweden.
