House Sparrow: Migration

The House Sparrow is one of Sweden's most sedentary birds.

  • No migration: it essentially does not migrate at all, living its whole life within a small area.
  • Site-faithful: the same colony can keep to a farm for generations.
  • Dispersal: only young birds move short distances to find new nest sites.
