Breeding season: April–July, normally two broods per season. - Nest: close to the ground in an upturned root plate, shrubbery, wall cracks or garden plants. Built by the female. - Eggs: 5–7, white to pale pink with red spots. Incubated for 13–14 days by the female. - Young: fed on insects by both parents. They fledge after 13–14 days — but stay in the territory for a further 3 weeks. - Second brood: while the female begins to incubate a new clutch, the male often takes over the feeding of the first brood's young, which allows the pair to fit in two broods over a single summer.
