European Robin: Nest boxes

The European Robin will not take an enclosed tit box, but it will happily use an open (half-open) box.

  • Type: an open front rather than a round entrance hole, floor approx. 12 × 12 cm.
  • Placement: low, 1–2 m up, well hidden behind a climbing plant or in dense vegetation and safe from cats.
  • Position: in a quiet, shady part of the garden near shrubbery.
