The European Robin is a semi-cavity/open nester that builds low and hidden.
Site: close to the ground in upturned root plates, banks, wall cracks, ivy or dense garden plants — sometimes even in odd spots such as plant pots and sheds.
Construction: the female builds a cup nest of leaves, moss and grass.
Eggs: 5–7 white to pale pink eggs with red spots; often two broods per season.
Concealed site: the nest is often so well hidden behind overhanging vegetation that it is very difficult to find, and the European Robin can be sensitive to disturbance and may abandon a nest that is discovered too early during building.
